Bio

Born in 1981, Jessica Tremp grew up in Switzerland before making Australia her home at the age of 18. She brought with her a love for romanticism, theatrics and nature and has begun combining these with her passion for the art of photography. She aims to create emotional authenticity, preferring a spontaneous, organic and naturally lit approach to her images. Her work has been featured in print and online magazines around the world including Take, Fallen and Empty Magazine, Fine Art Photo Magazine and Shots. In 2011, she won Gold in the Prix de la Photographie in Paris in the Portraiture - Self-Portrait Section. She was also named one of the top five emerging photographers in Australia in the Arts Category of 2010 Projections. Jessica's first solo exhibition was at Mick Gallery in November 2011 in Sydney.

Approach

My wedding photography is probably more on the romantic, whimsical, vintage, retro style. I try and mix a little real, candid, photojournalistic, editorial secret squirrel action with timeless, different, artistic, naturally posed creative portraits to be able to deliver a well rounded collection of beautiful memories for you to treasure forever. I'm based in Melbourne, VIC, Australia but I can and will travel to be a part of your big day.

After graduating in 2004 from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Arts in Photography, I have spent the last 8 years working as a lifestyle/ commercial/ advertising photographer in Melbourne. 

For the last 3 years I have started telling other peoples stories - applying my creative, yet clean, editorial style of photography to weddings & portraits.

Commercial clients include: Harris Scarfe // Target // French Connection // Hush Puppies // Coles // Melbourne Pub Group // Style Counsel.

Approach

Firstly, I love to drink tea (and coffee, and wine). And it's usually over one of these that I ask you your story. No two weddings are the same; therefore I wouldn't shoot any two weddings the same way. I will be there from when the first coat of mascara goes on 'till the last guests leaves if you like. Or, if you prefer, I will be there to just shoot the ceremony. Either way, you will end up with a disc (or two) of beautiful film-like images that capture the atmosphere/ the details/ the people & the moments that made your day.

I planned my own wedding recently and I understand the time and effort that goes into all the small details: your place cards, floral arrangements and other little details won't go unnoticed or unphotographed. I won't ever ask you to re-tie that tie, or put the bride's shoes on again. You won't find me running around telling people where to be and where to look. You won't see me lugging big flash gear around - in fact I try to shoot and capture the natural light wherever possible. Hopefully for most of the day you won't see me at all; I hate getting in your way. The stories are there and I will capture them honestly - as they happen.

I majored in Art in High School and graduated in Graphic Design at RMIT, Melbourne. I don't have any professional training in Photography, I just picked it up and ran with it. I like the idea of not being formally trained in Photography; there are no rules to be broken.

Approach

I love observing life. And photography gives me the opportunity to tell a story; to be a curator of moments. There's an art to storytelling - the ability to help another relive the moment but at the same time, not tell too much; giving space for one's imagination to run wild. 

Weddings have always intrigued me; it is where dreams become alive; both magical and real at once.

My aim is to capture the honest moments while trying to be as invisible as possible, so as to let the day run as naturally as it was meant to be.

Sure, we've picked up some awards and can be seen in many wedding magazines and blogs but really, is that important? To be truthful, we just really love what we do. We will love the experience as much as you, photograph your big day honestly; take some beautiful shots - and have a lot of fun along the way!

Each wedding is individual. Each couple is different. That's why we believe no two or three or four weddings should ever be photographed in the same way. 

We approach your big day with you and your personalities in mind! So we only capture a full day of wedding festivities. After all, it's your wedding DAY not wedding four, six or eight hours.

Both Rebecca and Karl had a passion for photography before they met, then through travelling together and photographing at every other chance, they developed a love for photography.

After a rare chance to photograph a family wedding, they realised this could actually be good fun, and shortly after being married themselves they launched Welsch Photography.

As a member of the AIPP, Karl has achieved Associate level membership after consistently winning awards at the annual national photographic awards held by the AIPP. Always experimenting and trying new techniques, Bec and Karl keep their work fresh, romantic and beautiful.

We only have to think about how we felt on our own wedding day, and what our feelings were towards each other, to our family and friends, and what we wanted from our special day.

I started out taking photos of cars after my girlfriend bought me a DSLR for my 21st birthday. I few years later I was asked to second shoot a wedding with a friend. This led to second shooting five other weddings. I decided that I should see if I can make something from this and shot my first wedding solo in December 2010. Soon after, I quit my desk job and half-way through 2012, I've shot over 60 weddings and loved every minute of it.

I've had no professional training and I'm not a member of any professional body. The secrets to my success are pure hard work, a passion to better myself and doing everything I can to make sure my clients are stoked with their wedding day experience!

Approach

To put it plain and simple - I'm a story teller. I don't mind throwing in some awesome portraits with beautiful light when I can. I only shoot weddings from start to finish. My main focus is to tell an awesome story and evoke the memories of my couples when they look back through their images. I tell my couples to look through photographs as a set of images rather than just one-by-one. That is my goal when photographing a wedding - to have a set of stunning pictures not just one or two!

First I went to university and studied literature. Then I went to art college and studied photography. Then I went back to university and combined the two, working on a project that saw me travelling around Australia and overseas photographing people and their landscapes, finally emerging with a PhD in photography in 2007. Since then my photographs have been sold and exhibited in Australia and overseas.

Approach

My approach to wedding photography is all about capturing the emotion of the day; the small moments and the quirky details that make each wedding unique and special.

I'm not really a fan of lots of posed photographs and most of my work is purely documentary, watching quietly and unobtrusively as everything unfolds in front of me. 

I like to be super organised so that we can go with the flow on the day and not have to worry or rush and I'm happiest working away while you're enjoying yourselves with your family and friends.
